Camping

We had a great time camping this weekend at Lake Whitney State Park. We got off to a slow & rough start but by the end we had had a terrific time. On the way down we were losing air in a tire, it turns out that the valve stem was bad and the reason for the air loss. Then we got to the park and realized we didn't get there with all the pieces to our tent. We decided we may have to sleep under the stars. After we ate some lunch we decided to go put the boat in and check out the lake. Unfortunately, the battery was dead from Ty messing with the switches so we had to wait and charge the battery before boating. God was looking out for us though, because when I walked in to see about trading our tent site for a shelter the attendan said there were no shelters available but there happened to be a nice lady that walked in right after I did and wanted to give back one of her shelters. The park could not take back and recheck sites but the lady was kind enough to leave the site under her name and I just paid her the difference. God is Awesome!
After this the next 24 hours went great. We went to our new site and set-up camp. The kids went swimming and we finally went out on the lake, which is huge. We had fun just relaxing and cruising around. We roasted hotdogs and marshmellows for dinner. The kids decided to put their tent inside the shelter and we all slept in there. Ty went right to sleep and slept all night - praise the Lord! (We were worried that he wouldn't sleep b/c he is pretty particular about his own bed, completely dark and no other noises/people) It was a bit hard but we made it and there was no rain. Hallelujah! There is a great hiking trail there so Sat. morn after breakfast we headed over for a good walk. The wildflowers were beautiful this time of year. Soon after, we went and got some bait and went out on the lake to fish. We only caught one but it was a pretty good one and we weren't really trying to hard - just trying to let the kids have fun. We had a great time and look forward to going back in the fall for our Sunday School camp-out.
